Tesla has told suppliers it wants to start production of a new mass market electric vehicle codenamed "Redwood", according to four people familiar with the matter, with two of them describing the model as a compact crossover.
According to Reuters sources, production would begin in June 2025. The next-generation Tesla architecture, internally called "NV9X," will include two or more models.
These models might be entry-level $25,000 car, that will allow Tesla to compete with Chinese EV maker giant such as BYD as well as cheaper Gas-powered Cars. BYD recently surpassed Tesla to become number one seller of EVs.
During Tesla's Annual shareholder meeting, Musk said "Both the design of the products and manufacturing techniques are head and shoulders above anything else that is present in the industry." Must has also promised in the past to build a $25000 Car.
